TeleBright Partnership with Energy Star®
By Mellenie Runion, Marketing
TeleBright reiterated its commitment to help protect the environment by becoming an ENERGY STAR Partner. TeleBright's voluntary partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR means that TeleBright will be working with clients to achieve energy efficiency goals, realize strong savings, and create a better work flow performance using their ManageRight software platform.
“We believe that we all must take our personal and collective responsibility for the environment seriously. TeleBright is focused on having our clients join us in creating a cleaner atmosphere. Working with Energy Star is yet another step in our overall action plan. We look forward to offering our software management tools to clients for tracking their efforts towards energy efficiency, as well as solid conservation advice,” says Chet Thaker, TeleBright’s CEO.
In partnership with ENERGY STAR, we will:
- Help our clients to implement appropriate energy efficiency measures
- Improve the efficiency of our clients’ buildings, in support of the ENERGY STAR Challenge
- Encourage our staff and those in our community to learn about the benefits of energy efficiency

Mobile Broadband Explodes!
By Chet Thaker , CEO
Mobile broadband usage exploded – gaining 850% growth worldwide within one year. Mobile broadband is wireless data services at speeds between 1.8 to 7.2 mbps. This growth was achieved on the GSM wireless networks using HSPA protocol (High Speed Packet Access). The users’ community went from 3 million users a year ago to 32 million currently.
The road-warriors with their sizzling laptops are thrilled with this service for its ease-of-use and convenience. By being connected to the office and the clients while traveling, these users make a strong statement about their customer service sensitivity.
For the service providers, this is a new market (and revenue source) that of connecting the laptops to the internet at ultra-high speeds, equivalent or better than most of today’s DSL/Cable connections. The revenue growth actually creates a virtuous cycle enabling the service providers to lower their service costs as scale is achieved in more and more wireless networks around the world (166 networks in 73 countries at the last count.)
Growth, on the other hand also creates network capacity and therefore its architecture issues for the service providers. First, the base station bandwidth capacity issues need to be resolved; followed soon after by the back-haul terrestrial network of switches that connect the base stations. The new technology called femtocells (small wireless base-stations in the home) may help. When the user reaches the home, the wireless carrier can offload the user’s wireless traffic from the wireless network’s base stations into the femtocell station in the user’s home which uses broadband over DSL, cable or fiber.
I wonder if VOIP technology for wireless will someday make talking on wireless phones as inexpensive as it is now on landlines.
TeleBright Nominated High Tech Firm of the Year
By Mellenie Runion, Marketing TeleBright is one of the 5 finalists for the Maryland Tech Council’s High Tech Firm of the Year award. The winner will be announced at the 20th annual award celebration, May 15, 2008. TeleBright continues to make improvements with the way we do business. The product line in 2007 was enhanced to address the changing needs of the market for the explosion in wireless usage. In the past 8 months TeleBright has been developing an expense management system that not only supports telecom but that can also manage electricity, gas, and water. Just as the platform has offered vital assistance with telecom expense management for years, it can now offer those same efficiencies to the entire enterprise for all monthly energy expenses. We are honored to be part of such a wonderful group of local businesses and associated with the Tech Council of Maryland.
